Louvre Abu Dhabi

The newly opened ( 2 weeks ago ) Louvre is a must-to-do if in Abu Dhabi. I brought my niece who’s 15 and she really enjoyed it.

the Louvre has 12 galleries, it’s a journey from prehistoric to contemporary art.
Among the Top ten masterpieces to look out for are:
Leonardo da Vinci – La Belle Ferronnière 1490, Vincent Van Gogh Self -portrait 1887, Portrait of Fayoum Egypt Antinoopolis 225-250 A.D., Jacques -Louis David Napoleon crossing the Alps 1803, Claude Monet La gare Saint -Lazare 1877, Bactrian Princess central Asia end of 3rd beginning of 2nd millenium BCE, Jackson Pollock number 26A Black and White 1947,

then you’ll find Miro’, Hopper, Caravaggio, Vermeer, etc etc etc

I must confess that it was the building in itself that caught my attention. Love the architecture. It’s amazing what they can do…..

my companion today

If you plan to visit you need a couple of hours at least.
Kullens light station
Posted on July 31, 2017
is the highest one in Sweden. Situated at 187.5 meters and it dates all the way back to 1561. Since 1751 more than 200 ships have become wrecks outside the horn with it’s treacherous rocks. Nowadays it’s a popular diving site because of the wrecks and very clear water.

all of a sudden I saw the sun right in the middle of the light station. Now that’s what I call solar energy.

stunning scenery. We where here early in the morning so we couldn’t climb up into the light station since it doesn’t open until 11.00 !!
Kullen, Kullaberg, Skåne, Sweden.

Kullen has got to be one of the most beautiful spots in all of Sweden. I’m so happy that we paid a visit one early morning a couple of days ago.

Soooo worth a trip but be aware…it’s not the easiest place to explore. Small children can’t run around as they like and the climbs down the cliffs can be really challenging.

there’s different nature trails you can choose to get around and at some spot there’s actually a shelter so you can stay overnight. The Swedish ” right to public access” is amazing. Too bad not everybody understands how great this is and respects it.

not a bad place to anchor for the night

you can paddle sea kayaks and do some cliff climbing around here….there’s some people getting ready to repel down the cliff side. see them?

amazing that anything can grow among all these rocks

look at that tree with the roots !

amazing scenery ….Parishamn

all of a sudden the mist was creeping up on us like a ghost

the scenery changed so fast

climbing up we could see it out over the water

while looking out over the water I all of a sudden saw two porpoises – tumlare. WOW !!
you can actually go on a porpoise watching tour that leaves from Parishamn.

Ablahamn
below is a map of Kullen if you’re up for an adventure !

Yesterday we headed east for Sträntemölla preserve, Forsemölla, Rörums backar, Österlen. This part of the world is truly beautiful.

I love the old stone fences

first part of the fall……

the second part is the highest

there’s something special about waterfalls…our niece said ” it’s like stepping into a Lord of the rings movie” and it truly was…mysterious and magical

we walked through beautiful old deciduous forest

and then all of a sudden we entered “Mandelmanns trädgårds” grounds

with open pasture, summer meadows and rolling “hills”

walked up to the top of a hill where we could see all the way to the sea…

Rörums backar, the hills of Rörum in panoramic view

truly worth a visit if you’re in my part of the world. perfect spot for a picnic.
Mother nature is fantastic

today our walk in the forest resulted in yet lots more yellow summer chanterelles, (wild mushrooms)

almost a kg ! If you want to know what we are cooking tonight be sure to check in on the next post !
while looking for the yellow gold we found this snake….a blindworm, en kopparödla !

and we saw beetles everywhere…..

all of a sudden we saw a tiny little bird fly out of the moss and there I found a nest with the smallest eggs ever….(well, bigger than the hummingbird though)

5 tiny eggs…I do wonder what bird though? anyone who knows?

right before getting into the car we found these colorful “dreamer” ( bredbrämad bastardsvärmare)

mother nature sure is fantastic.
At the southernmost point in Sweden.
Posted on June 27, 2017
Yesterday we decided to go to the southernmost tip, Smygehuk to get some lunch and have a walk (they have yummy food from the sea here)

we didn’t walk down to THE tip because the waves would have got us really wet because it was windy , almost storm…

notice that it’s closer to Moscow1524 km, than to Treriksröset 1572 km, which is in Sweden !

summer checklist: a soft ice cream, check.

the old beautiful warehouse which is now a café and a store that sells local craftsmanship-art

an old window with an old view but still beautiful

to the west of the harbor there’s a light house station that holds a B&B.
